Please join us for our two-day symposium to present and discuss outstanding papers that fall within the theme of the Journal of Business and Economics in Times of Crisis and that demonstrate the potential to be published in the journal. The symposium takes place in Munich, Germany, from 16 to 17 August, 2012.

We combine the academic presentation sessions with a nice social program that allows our guests to get to know each other, for example during the opening reception with a Bavarian buffet, the networking lunch, the coffee breaks, or the off-site excursion.

We are accepting and reviewing work on a rolling basis. However, abstracts should be submitted before March 10, 2012. You are strongly encouraged to submit your abstract as soon as possible to allow for sufficient time to settle any questions that the expert panel might have.

The abstract should not exceed 300 words. Proposals may cover any topic related to the theme of the journal (e.g. economic and financial crisis). If you have doubts about whether your proposal fits, please contact us for assistance.

We notify the author(s) about the acceptance decision within two weeks of the abstract submission.

Papers presented at the conference may be published in the Conference Proceedings, in addition to being considered for the journal. Full papers should consist of approximately 7-20 pages single-spaced. The draft version of the paper should be submitted to us one month before the conference to allow the discussants to read the paper, perform some research on their own to better understand the subject, and prepare questions and feedback for the conference session. Exemptions from the pre-conference submission requirement must be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Please submit the abstract by e-mail to Mr. Wolf (no attachments, please put the abstract directly into the e-mail message) to the following address:

A note about the link between the symposium and the journal:  The symposium and the journal are two separate entities, though still related with each other. It is possible for authors to present their paper at the symposium while choosing to push their paper for publication elsewhere in a different journal. At the same time, the presentation of a paper at the symposium does not guarantee publication in our journal, as the respective selection processes for the symposium and the journal are different. The presentation at the symposium, however, could function as one useful step of many in the peer review process for the journal.
