The Graduate School of Economics and Management of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, the University of Padua and the University of Verona is a joint three-year PhD doctoral program designed to train doctoral candidates in a broad area of advanced studies in economics, management, and finance for careers in teaching and research in universities, in public and private research organizations, in financial and consulting institutions and in private companies.

The School is structured in the following Ph.D. programs:

- Ph.D. in Economics

- Ph.D. in Economics and Finance

- Ph.D. in Business

- Ph.D. in Business Administration and Management

- Ph.D. in Economics and Management

In their first year, students attend common core courses during the first semester, in either Venice or Verona, while they all have specific courses according to the Ph.D. program in Padua during the second semester. The third semester is dedicated to elective courses according to the Ph.D. program spread in each of the three venues.
Students will be supervised by two Advisors, members of the three universities' faculty during the period dedicated  to the elaboration of the doctoral thesis.
At the end of the program, students are awarded a joint PhD from the three universities.

All classes are held in English by members of the faculty of the three universities, who coordinated themselves to ensure equal level contents for each topic in each institution.

The GSEM is based in the Universities of Venice, Padua and Verona and offers only courses at a doctoral level.

A typical first year starts in mid - September with preparatory courses in mathematics and probability. Official courses begin at October 1st. Courses and participation to department seminars absorb most of the students' activity from Monday to Friday.  Second year students attend a first semester of courses in residence. Usually, second year students leave for a period of research and study in a foreign institution. Third year students are entirely devoted to their doctoral thesis, under the supervision of their Advisors, chosen among the Faculty of the three institutions.
