Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) at the University of Cologne
The assistant professor is expected to have strong research interests in the field of applied microeconomics – broadly defined – and using methods especially from microeconomic theory, from econometrics and/or from applied numerical simulation analysis. The successful candidate will be part of the energy institute.
Applicants should have completed, or be near completion of, a doctorate in economics or a related field and should show a pronounced research focus. Research projects at the institute include industrial economics (theoretical or empirical), regulatory economics, modeling of energy markets (optimization, methods of numerical simulation), environmental economics, and energy trading. Previous work in one of these fields is a plus, but not required. What is required, however, is the dedication to contribute to the institute’s research program.
The appointment is initially limited to three years, after which it can be renewed once for another three years. Assistant Professors are generally required to cover a teaching load corresponding to 4 courses per year. The qualifications required are a university and PhD degree and excellent academic achievements and teaching abilities (§ 36 HG NRW).
Applicants with disabilities, but equal capability will be favoured. Female applicants with equal capability, suitability and professional experience will be favoured.
Applications including copies of the usual documents (curriculum vitae, list of publications, list of courses taught, proof of qualifications) should be sent no later than 16.03.2012 to bewerbung@wiso.uni-koeln.de.
