The Banque de France (Paris) is hiring an economist/researcher to reinforce its Microeconomic Analysis Division. The Division is responsible for conducting quantitative studies on individual data of households and firms in order i) to brief senior officials of the Banque in connection with the preparation of monetary policy ii) to produce high-quality research and publications in leading academic journals. Research will be conducted in collaboration with economists, consultants and assistants of the Division, which has ten people. The candidate will also be required to work in collaboration with researchers from other departments of Bank or from other central banks of the Eurosystem.
Occupational duties
- produce empirical analysis using individual data on various topics relevant to the Banque de France, with a focus on price and wage-setting. Research topics include the transmission of aggregate and microeconomic shocks to prices and wages, and the sources of nominal rigidities.
-present her/his research in conferences and publish in academic journals.
-contribute to the preparation of international meetings involving officials of the Banque, and co-organize international scientific conferences.
Qualification and Experience
- Phd in economics or a proven ability to perform the tasks required by the postion
- Good publication record in academic journals
-Knowledge of microeconometric methods and their implementation
-Familiarity with different sources of individual databases
-Interest in macroeconomic issues, including monetary policy issues
-Experience in conducting and managing research projects in applied econometrics.
-Experience of work in business or public institutions
-Excellent command of English with proven drafting ability
Duration of contract
Fixed-term position of three years. The position is available immediately. Salary will depend on qualification and experience.
